What are you grateful for?

The linen bed sheet and the soft pillows,

The piping hot tea and the freshly toasted bread,

The crisp, clean shirts and the leather bag,

What are you grateful for?

The drought that left them barren,

The hungry stomachs and the sleepless nights,

The scorching sun and the polluted water,

What are you grateful for?

The constant clicking of the keyboards,

The gossips about the neighbours of your friend,

The paper that you just scribbled on,

What are you grateful for?

The hungry kids playing in a dumpster,

The farmers praying for the rains,

The middlemen stealing their relief,

What are you grateful for?

The smiles in the midst of adversity,

The sulks in the presence of amenities,

What are you grateful for?
